Sarnoff's Featured Artist of the Month - Fred Wackerle

“Fred’s paintings vary from contemplative to joyful with luminous colors that present nature in all its vivid palette”
“Art Is Spectrum” Magazine May, 2008

Artist Statement

I enjoy both plein air and studio painting - more abstract than representational - motivated by light and shadow. My outdoor painting process consists of scouting a good location, at times hiking at great length, selecting dramatic lighting conditions, editing the subject matter for composition, and selecting a color palette that achieves a striking, abstract impression.  In addition, I like the challenge and spontaneity of painting ala prima… fast.  I sometimes use my small plein air paintings as inspiration for larger works.

My larger impressionistic works (especially “dreamscapes:”cloud abstracts and large triptych paintings) are done in my studio either directly from life observation or memory. I love to paint in oils. And, I accept commissions. My artist web site is:  www.wackerle.com.
